Patriarchal Blessing

March 16, 1916.  A Blessing by William M. Daines, Patriarch, on the head of Hazel Johnson, daughter of James Johnson and Harriet Emeline Lamb.  Born at Preston, Idaho Nov. 5, 1899.

Sister Hazel: I lay my hands upon your head in the name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, and I give unto you this Patriarchal Blessing according to your desires.  Your name is written in the Lamb’s book of Life to remain there through the countless ages of Eternity.  For your faithfulness in the Spirit world has brought you opportunities of Eternal progression and your guardian Angel shall never desert you.  Thou art of Joseph who was sold into Egypt and shall enjoy the blessings forever of the new and everlasting covenant.  Your opportunities for labor and for advancement shall multiply as the years come and your talents shall be strengthened and developed to your good and to the benefit of thousands.  You shall teach the Gospel to many who are in darkness and shall have cause to rejoice in their acceptance of the truth.  You shall have a companion suited to your temperament and who shall be a leader unto you and your family in all good things and your home shall be one of order.  You shall enjoy the Spirit of discernment and be able to warn your companions of intended evils.  You shall be a comfort to your parents in their declining years and take much happiness in cementing the bonds of union in your father’s household.  I seal you up unto Eternal life to come forth in the morning of the first Resurrection clothed with immortality and Eternal life by the authority of the Holy Priesthood and in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
